bellicima, dreams & whats your poison

Okay, here are the topics for june, and yet again….one of the topics has gone missing. I’ve searched high and low…no sign.
I can assure you I’m really not the biggest flake this side of the Susquehanna river. Anyways aside from our 3 (yes three) topics we have a new venture for June art nite.

June 5
7pm
112-114 E. Walnut St. Apt.41
Lancaster PA 17602
(link to exact locale) see I’m helpful.
Parking is in abundance. There is usually plenty on the street either Duke or Walnut (Historic Hamilton Suites is my building and its on that corner) Plus there is the Duke St. garage not too far from the pad.
Please bring: project, food and/or drink if you wish

"the plan"…if you wish to participate; we have a little project to do this time (besides presenting our pieces and having fun as usual), see the sample below. Donna once again has come up with this ingenious idea to make these lil monster’s, and donate them to the under the weather kids at Lancaster General, (who are all ready very excited).
We will also include a small card with the monster's "story" something like "Hello I'm a monster and I am going to help fight off your sickness. Please give me a very special name. Don't mind me if I drool on your pillow from time to time or eat your cookies".... you get the idea.
If we could all help to make monsters on art nite we will have more to go around, which is obviously a great thing. Donna has plenty of supplies, and I’m sure we could all help out with bringing any extra needed tools and scraps we have laying around. And don’t fret if you don’t know how to sew, it would be the perfect opportunity to learn, or you could always help with a different step of the process.
Donna has arranged a time of Monday June 8 at 4pm to make the drop at the hospital.
We have some more incredibly hip ideas that stemmed from this, that we will go over at art nite. I hope you can all make it, to help out!! I’m so excited about it!

Just an couple fyi’s…art nite will still be normal; we just have an extra added beni (benefit) this time. also keep in mind Lancaster First Friday will be taking place, if you wish to attend that as well.

FUN!

MAY!

Summer is here again, and not sure if you have noticed, but my managing the blog has taken a pitiful turn. Its okay though. Why in your right mind would you want to be looking at your computer when there is summer fun to be had.
So I’m just going to keep justifying my slacker sensibilities with nice weather.
Anyways, I'd like to give everyone one big fat high five that joined us for may art nite.
we had such a nice turn out, it was so nice to have a full house of laughter. thanks everyone for venturing out. A couple first timers and some faces we haven’t seen in ages…thanks so much for coming and keep on coming back!!! I had a blast!
Here are just some of our projects.
Our topics were: Strange and Pimp My Ride
Haha, I can’t find the photos. OH NO! I’ll have to track down the folder, I know I put it somewhere.
Sorry. Standby.

ladies and gents...ms. donna smith

well, I thought now would be a swell time to give our friend donna a standing ovation.
see for yourself theoneminutemuse.com
Donna has officially created this mastermind of a website, along with all the intricate components.... not only is it chalk full of uber FUN stuff, its a great source for easy ways to get those creative bits juicin'. you're an inspiration donna!
So, if you have some time, check it out, sign up and help support our fellow creatives. (especially the ones that work really hard at it)

for those of you that don't know donna and all her busybody loveliness, i dug really deep for my inner barbara walters and sent her a little QNA. (don't laugh too hard at my tantalizing questions)

Age: 26
Hometown: Home is where the heart is.
Where do you now live?: Lancaster, PA (for now the travel bug is biting)
Where would you most like to live?: here http://www.simondale.net/house/ or on a house/sailboat
What is your favorite thing to do on your day off from work?: Depends on the day and my energy level. Typically, if I'm feeling creative and motivated I paint, explore other artists online, make videos. If it is a lazy day you will find me curled up in the papazan reading a book or playing video games. When adventure beckons I get moving outside and explore, sometimes I'll bring my hammock along and set up shop in Longs Park.
Who was your first favorite artist?: I grew up admiring Renaissance artists like DaVinci & Michelangelo. I also fell in love with Egon Schiele's work (despite it's egocentric tendencies) Paul Klee, Matisse, O'Keeffe, Kahlo geeze the list goes on and on. I guess if you're asking about my first memorable relationship with art... it started with a tiny desk in my mother' kitchen copying anime and magna figures. I was obsessed with Sailor Moon, Ranma 1/2 and practiced drawing them like it was my religion. I then became really interested in interpreting dreams and philosophical texts which fed my illustrative content.
How about your current fav?: Right now I totally dig this illustrator
http://www.miniminiaturemouse.com
and I'm thinking about incorporating white space into my own work in such an interesting way
What's your favorite sense?: Sound. ( I bet you thought it would be sight :) music takes me to places artwork cannot.
What lights your fire?: Deadlines. I'm kidding... sort of. Learning something new lights my fire. If I'm experimenting, playing, learning the fire is blazing.

mad pride

great article...thanks tim.
