January Art Nite

Hello everyone.
The next art nite will take place on Friday, January 9th 2009!!!
2009, can you believe it?
We will be getting together at Dona S’s

Address is as follows:
112-114 E. Walnut St. Apt.41
Lancaster PA 17602
http://www.mapquest.com/ Parking is in abundance. There is usually plenty on the street either Duke or Walnut (Historic Hamilton Suites is my building and its on that corner) Plus there is the Duke St. garage not too far from the pad.

I guess around 7ish. Feel free to bring some grub (holiday leftovers) and/or drinks we have a lot to catch up on since we haven’t gotten together in eons. I can NOT wait to see everyone and see some awe inspiring projects.

Please, don’t forget to take time to revel in the quiet moments of winter…and savor good health and happiness
Have a lovely Christmas! And the happiest of new years!

blindness...and greed

Blindness.
“Get out of the way asshole! I’m gonna be late! Can’t you see I’m drivin’ here?”
As the wind gently blows puffy white clouds across the deep blue sky,
A bird glides past the weeping willow tree. Past the swaying tree is a fawn and her mother peaking out of the tall, green field of corn. Around the corner a fox trots across the road and hides behind a bush.

“If this guy goes any slower!”
As a mother walks her little third grader to the edge of the driveway to await the school bus.
A dedicated 70 year old runner struggles up the steep hill and thinks, “I think I can. I think I can.”
A third shifter pulls into their driveway and slowly retrieves the mail from his mailbox, after long night on the job.

“I’ve got so much stuff to do! How am I ever going to get all this done?”
As an elderly couple walk side by side, and hand in hand around the park together one more time.
A farmer on his tractor is just finishing up his daily chores as the sun sets in the western sky.
His horses graze in the evening sun, his cows moo in anticipation of relief from being milked.
A father runs behind his child who for the first time, is riding his bike with out the training wheels!

“Holy Crap! It’s crowded in here! I can hardly breath! I wished they’d get out of my face!”
As someone screams for attention and acceptance, they sink deeper into a depression, and feel all alone, in this very crowded room. A girl sticks her finger down her throat and thinks to her self, “Maybe he’ll notice me when I’m skinny, only a few more pounds.”
A man stands in the corner, petrified with fear that a woman might talk to him, for he would freeze and not know what to say, for rejection has scared his broken heart one too many times.

“It’s too Hot out! It’s too Cold out! I’m starving! I’m too full! Man, do I need a drink!”
As the homeless man pulls in the flap of his small but somewhat stable card board box, in hopes that it won’t get below freezing this night. As his neighboring grocery store manager locks up his store and brings out the left-over soup from the kitchen that day. The stray cat from down the street prances up for hopes of a spill or two.

“It’s too bright out here!” “I’m Blind!”
As you open your eyes for the first time from being blind. Blinded by the busy world we live in. As our eyes adjust, and you “See the Light!” May God grant us peace, patients, and bless us with loving eyes to see the beauty in life, the good in others, and the hurt in others, that we may not be blind to all such things. May our hearts and eyes rest in peace at night, and be open to all during the day.

Low n Behold

Well this is what i came up with... for some time now i've been hearing suggestions of checking out the "first friday" scene in Lancaster; (http://www.lancasterarts.com/firstfridays/) basically touring a couple of the artsy farts gallerys/shops etc. I'm going to try to contact a friend to get the scoop on worthwhile places to check out, and if anyone has any recommendations i'm all ears. so, i guess we will do that Friday (October 3rd) if anyone would care to join, and have the real deal ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY (woo hoo) art nite saturday (October 4th). Our first ever saturday art nite, lets see how it pans out?? I know what you are all thinking...that gives me all day saturday to put together a project. fair enough. So with allll that being said; Friday i'm heading to Lancaster around 6:00ish if anyone wants to check it out. And Saturday I will hopefully see all your smiling faces.

All right Team Art Nite needs a little bit of a kick in the pants! Its partially my fault for being so lax, but life happens to the best of us. Anyways this coming art nite is our VERY FIRST BIRTHDAY. Yesss we’re 1! I’ve beat myself up thinking of the next big thing to do for everyone that’s participated thus far. And check it out…I’ve come up with nothing. As awesome as that is…we have an open ballot for our next project. Go ahead and feel free to make whatever you please there is NO TOPIC... NO CONSTRAINTS... NO LIMITS. I’m not sure if this is going to be more or less difficult, but don’t let that stop you from making something fantastic. I suggest doodling your little heart out and let that brain…storm. Ideas snowball once you initiate. Good luck everyone, have an amazing rest of your September, where exactly the beginning (and middle) of it went I’m unsure? If I think of anything remotely special to do for our birthday, I’ll be sure to post it.
Thanks again and can’t wait to see all of your projects of choice.

invisibility

So last Friday we all made the long haul out to Quarryville. Who knew, how far…yet so peaceful Quarryville was?
It was a terrific time, friends, family and even a kitty cat. Amazing food & wine all to be enjoyed on one of the finer decks I’ve ever sat upon. There were even distant sounds of horse drawn buggies clopping by if you took the time to “listen”. Again we all had amazing ideas from every different ray of the creativity spectrum. Thanks everyone for keeping things fun, fresh…and also participating. Have a fantastic august and see you all in September. Keep in mind our 1 year anniversary is coming up (October); start dreaming up some creative ideas for our first birthday!
Here are our projects for “invisible”

I guess that love has lost it’s way
Another relationship tossed away
I try to touch it, make it stay
But in my heart it moves astray
I cry and cry, just like a child
And then I feel my eyes go wild
A creative energy bursts from within
Helps soothe my heart, make it whole again
A splash of paint and a dab of glue
Working hard enough I’m sure to fix you
Invisible love I cannot find
Invisible love won’t you be mine
Invisible love don’t go away
Invisible love wish you would stay
I’ll set a trap, discover where you reside Follow my map, only to find inside
Invisible love you’ve been there all along It sure is nice sometimes to be wrong.

"coon’s camo cape"
i wear a cape that you can not see
not by glimpse or glance
sad that you really stand no chance
my ears might confine it
and my tail may be behind it
but sorry to say you can not see
not too loose, not too tight
it really is the perfect fit
not to mention exceptionally knit
it sparkles at night
and gleams all day
when i sit and each time a stay
it flaps
and it flops
i may even love it more than pork chops
it does make me super
it does make me cool
and yes...i do use it to wipe my drool
it guides us
and hides us
mainly from harms way
meek and modest
it can even derail pain
cover and protect us if it were to rain
helps us smile when we’re dejected
makes us laugh when sad
breathe deep and lets us be glad
i feel bad you can NOT see it
for its quite unreal
if only it would help me learn to heel

i wear a camo cape
not only for me
i wear an invisible cape only my mom can see.

what it is

its...invisible!
hey there cats and kittens. our next art nite will be held on August 1st. yes yes its in only a couple weeks. i'm not going to make excuses.
be there if ya care!
Date: Friday August 1st
Time: 7:00ish
Location: 414 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566

here's the skinny...
From York: Take Rt 74 South down to Rt 372; go left on Rt 372 ( there is a sign there that says Quarryville 14 miles) You will cross the Susquehanna over the Holtville Dam bridge ( really cool bridge; great view!) Take this to Quarryville. You will cross over Rt 272 at 'The Buck' at a traffic light, pass a small shopping mall with Musser's grocery store in it, that way you know you are getting close. Continue to follow Rt 372 ( it gets quite curvy along this stretch so be careful, especially if you have never been here before) You will come down a slight hill out of a group of trees to a very sharp turn ( 90˚) to the left and then make another sharp turn (90˚) to the right, this means you are very close. You will pass a Lapps Restaurant on your left; house is the second house after that on the left. It is a red brick and white siding ranch house with black shutters.

Lets figure out the parking when we get there...we're spontaneous like that.
see you all there...its a bit of a hike so carpooling is preferred. contact me for more info.
thanks everyone
be good!
