From Donna S.

Hello lovelies!
I want to let you all know I’ll be teaching a painting workshop in Lancaster, PA this Sunday Nov.15. So if you’re in the area and would want to get messy with some paints give me a holler. It’s a women’s event with tons of other very cool workshops going on. I would love love love to see your smiling face! Tell your friends :)http://www.ywcalancaster.org/events.htmlIf you register before hand the tickets are $10 instead of $15 at the door. Hope to see you there! https://secure.getmeregistered.com/get_information.php?event_id=2820

November.

well here are the topics for Novem. NOTE & LOVE
Here is the low down for November Artnite, b/c its going to be different than evaaaa before!!!! who doesn't love change this time of year?

DATE: Nov. 6th
TIME: 6:30 (note, earlier than normal)
PLACE: Shady Pines Farm (woo-hoo, love it there) 12637 Mt. Olivet Road Felton, PA. 17322
youthprograminc.org our show will take place in the barn shop (uber cool, wait until you guys see the set up) with hopes for a fire in the firepit later on in the evening.
BRING: This will be a catered affair but please feel free to bring wine or drink of choice and as always bring your project and your peepers b/c there is going to be some cool stuff.
WHO: This event will be open to everyone family, friends, the public. (my dad might even be there so prepare yourself for some laughing and a few bad jokes)
THE BREAKDOWN: this is an informal artshow consisiting of the work we (artnite members) have created. We finally get to display our work. Therefore we may not get the opportunity to show November projects, all of that is up in the air, much like the general idea of "artnite" we have no pressures or constraints, it is what it is.
if you have any questions what so ever, or would in fact like to squeeze a few pieces of art into the show...which i think would be super just let me know...i will make it happen.
here's to all of you!
be good,
andi

ye' that have yet to attend an art nite

please read the following...

"I was so nervous about attending my first Art Nite, b/c I am not an artistic person and I did not know what I could possibly bring to contribute some insight to a crowd of aspiring creative people! But, within 5 minutes of my arrival I had met at least 6new people who were so warm and inviting, that I immediately felt excited about the evening....despite the fact that I decided to show up empty-handed! I just wanted to experience this unique event, and I am so glad that I did! I found out that art could be anything from a nice photograph, to a poem, or even a portrayal of a dream. I was introduced to new photograph manipulation tool that I never knew existed, and it will prove very helpful in creating my new daughter's scrapbook. I highly recommend Art Nite to anyone looking to meet friendly people and care to share snacks, spirits and laughs (many)!" ~Karen

thanks for braving an artnite karen, you d'best.

Melissa’s Show

Hello everyone our very own (and very special) Melissa has a solo photo exhibit at the Yorktowne Hotel. Her work is displayed in the dining section which I believe is the Off Center Grill. MMMmmmMm. We met on Saturday for a quaint little opening reception which was lovely and very fun. Melissa we are so very proud of you. Your photos are amazing, and all that hard work …it put smiles on all our faces.
For those of you that couldn’t make it (shame shame) we'll let it slide... this time because her stuff will be up for alllll of September. So there is still time!!! They have amazing food and drinks (shockingly affordable). By the way, its probably one of the more relaxing places to eat in York, PA. at least I thought so…oh and they have a patio!

Another thanks for helping her get over being a little shy come project time (Adam! You rule). One last shout out to those brave newbies that came, and actually brought freaking awesome projects….I hope you guys had fun and are planning your return.
Melissa and Jason, your house looked great and your new lighting set up is way way WAY impressive. Can’t wait to see how far you get next month, thanks for opening your doors to us.

REAL
by Ivy Cox

Real.
What is real? ... Is is what we can see?
"Did you see that?" ... "Oh my gosh, I can't believe it! It just disapeared into thin air!" ... "How could that be?" ..."That just can't be real!"

What is real? ... Is it what we can hear?
"Did you hear what he said?" ... "There's no way, dude!" ... "That didn't sound like him at all!" ... "That's not what I heard." ... "I don't believe it." ... "It couldn't have been real."

What is real? ... Is it what we can smell?
"Do you smell that?" ... "I don't smell anything." ... "It smells like cat pee." ... "My house doesn't smell like cat pee! It must be in your head. I don't smell it at all!" ... "I'm sorry, but that stink is real! Real bad."

What is real? ... Is it what we can taste?
"You've got to taste this! Close your eyes, and tell me what you think." ... "Umm, I can't taste anything, I've got a cold!" ... "This crab meat, it's sooo awesome!" ... "Hey, did you read this can? It's the fake stuff. It's not even real crab meat!" ... "But it tasted so real!?"

What is real? ... Is it what we can touch?
"Feel this coat." ... "Oh my, is soooo soft! Is is rabit?" ... "Nope." ... "Mink?" ... "Nope." ... "Well it must be real fur, it's so perfect feeling! What it is? ... "It's all synthetic. Fake". ... "Wow, I could have sworn it was real!"

What is real? ... Is it what we feel?
"This is it. This is real. I'm in love!" ... "Oh yeah? Do you guys have lots to talk about?" ... "Well we don't talk too much, but when he looks and me and smiles, I get all tingley inside!" ... "Do you guys do lots of things together you enjoy?" ... "Yeah, lately, we've been at his house all day makin' lots of love!" ... "Hmm. Well do you have anything in common?" ... "Well, I dunno, but this feeling has got to be real love. It's incredible!" ... "Um, I hate to say this, but that is just the feeling of lust, lieing to you. What your feeling,,, isn't real."

So, what is real? As our senses diseive us what can be know to be real? Is it simply personal opinion? Does every person have and create their own reality? Our thoughts, our feelings... are they real? What is our soul, our concience? Are they real? How do we know? ... What's your REAL?

aww, look at em

meet our monsters.
Thanks everyone for sticking around to make these cute little guys, it was so much fun to create something at art nite! this could easily become the dawning of a new art nite trend. it was neat to see everyone really put their heads down, tongues out and guerilla create...and the outcome was beyond worth it!
Note from Donna regarding the monster drop:
Just an FYI I dropped off all of the beauties at Lancaster General and the volunteers there LOVED them! On the ones I made I also put a little plug for my free painting videos on the website. Then I asked about other art related volunteer opportunities at the hospital and Dawn said I would be perfect for this traveling art cart they are starting next month. The patients who have an extended stay ahead of them get to decorate their rooms with stuff off of the traveling art cart. I told her I was really interested so we will see...Thanks for all of your help. I think the dolls are really going to make a difference to some special kids. Give yourself a pat on the back you are all wonderful, beautiful people :) I'll probably be making another batch within the next two months if you want to participate more.~Donna
